Alps 2 Ocean

A 6 -Day Cycle Tour – Embark on the ultimate adventure in a 306 km journey with the best scenery and changing South Island landscapes.

The Alps 2 Ocean is the ultimate New Zealand cycle trail: a 306km journey of changing South Island landscapes, from snow-capped mountains to the Pacific Ocean. On this 6 day cycle tour adventure, you’ll see some of the best scenery and landscapes the South Island has to offer. As well as bike rides, you’ll enjoy iconic NZ experiences including a helicopter flight, outdoor hot pools and wine tasting at a renowned local vineyard. We like to keep our cycle tours as smaller groups to provide the best overall experience combined with our top level of service. We provide a fully-supported trip with an experienced tour guide providing vehicle support throughout and a support rider at the back of the group on the more remote and challenging sections of trail.

However, please only choose an non-electric bike if you are an expert rider with a VERY high level of fitness and regularly ride over 50km per day on gravel. The trail is much more challenging to ride on a non-electric bike. Many of our guests who choose a non-electric bike end up regretting their decision. We generally encourage everyone to choose an ebike. You can always choose to dial back the level of support on an ebike if you want more of a workout.
  • It’s possible to start or finish the Alps to Ocean tour with connecting buses to and from Christchurch.
  • Private Tours can be arranged, subject to the availability of accommodation. Let us know your dates and requirements and let us do the organising for you! The Price depends on the time of year and number of people.
